Some Futuristic Things Are Already Available

audi traffic jam pilot

Although many of us cannot imagine the futuristic technology that will be available in the future, many of these technologies have already been created and are readily available. Many cars have advanced technology such as lane correction, collision detection, automated parking and other useful features. Tesla vehicles already exist and have assisted driving features. 55 companies are currently allowed to test autonomous vehicles. These developments have the potential to become very common, but are they a viable option?

Streaming movies, music, and other videos

Streaming movies and music is the future entertainment. Television and the internet have conspired together to make old media obsolete and create new ones. According to a Moffett Nathanson report, streaming has increased from zero to $3Billion in three years. While it once seemed that DVDs were the savior of the movie industry, streaming has transformed into a public good. Let's examine the business models behind streaming movies and music.

Driverless lorries

Driverless lorries may not be as impossible as you think. Although the technology is already available on the market, it will take more time to adapt to different locations. Different types of sensors are needed to drive autonomous vehicles. These sensors are fed into an artificial intelligence system that may contain modules created by engineers. This information is used to determine if the driver is alert and to decide whether they should change their course.

Robotic exoskeletons

Though there has been much hype about robotic exoskeletons, public opinion is divided. Only 6% believe they have heard of the futuristic machines. 37% claim they are neutral. 52 percent said they were unsure, while 52 percent stated that they are skeptical. However, the survey results show that opinions about robots are not based upon any particular ideology.

Transparent television

It is possible to have a transparent TV. LG first introduced the concept years ago, but it wasn't until the last few months that the technology made it to the stores. Xiomi, a Chinese tech giant released the first transparent television commercially available in May 2012. It's not the most beautiful television, but it has great sound and clarity. The price for a transparent TV is RMB 49,999.

Invisibility

People often fantasize about being invisible in futuristic worlds, but not everyone has the means to afford it. Cloaking technology has made it possible to make yourself invisible thanks to recent advances. This technology could be used disguise large objects, such as cellphone towers or wreckage. But it is still a long way away from becoming practical. It is currently only possible for responsible scientists to afford it.

How to be an Automotive Technician

An automotive technician performs repairs and maintains vehicles. He/she can be found at auto shops, garages and service centers. He/she assists customers in fixing their cars, trucks or motorcycles. An automotive technician must be capable of diagnosing problems and making repairs safely, accurately and efficiently.

A person who wants to work as an automotive technician should first obtain an associate degree from a vocational school. After completing this program, he/she must pass the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exam. ASE stands as American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Two sections make up the ASE certification examination. One section tests mechanical knowledge; the second section tests practical skills. To take the test, you must visit one of the approved testing locations. These testing sites can be found online and through your local dealer.

Before becoming an automotive technician, a candidate must pass the test. This process can vary depending on where the applicant lives. Some states require that candidates attend training courses, while others permit them to learn independently. Some states allow technicians to become licensed right away after receiving their license. While others wait until they have had at least six years of experience as an automotive technician.

To get started as an automotive technician, a person should apply to a local automotive dealership. Most new employees begin as apprentices once they are hired. Apprenticeship programs last about three years. During this time, a student learns how to perform basic repairs, such as changing oil, adjusting brakes, replacing tires, cleaning spark plugs, inspecting engine compartments, and performing routine maintenance. Some students will learn advanced repair techniques, such as changing shocks, installing air filters, and replacing engines. Most schools offer classes during regular business hours. Some schools also offer evening classes, if necessary.

Once a student completes his/her apprenticeship, he/she becomes a journeyman. Journeymen typically spend four to five years learning how to install major systems, such as transmissions, differentials, steering gear, suspensions, and drive shafts. They also learn to perform complex repairs, such as remanufacturing engines, rebuilding transmissions, and troubleshooting electrical components. Many employers prefer to hire Journeymen because they understand the job well.

Candidates who pass the required exams are eligible for a license. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were nearly 1.7 million jobs available for automotive mechanics in 2010. This number was expected increase 18% between 2009 - 2020. If a candidate decides to open his/her own shop, he/she should prepare to invest many thousands of dollars in equipment and supplies.

Someone with only a high school diploma could earn around $21,000 per year. Those with an associate's degree earned approximately $24,000 per year. Technicians with a bachelor's degree earn about $27,000 per annum. A master's degree earns around $32,000 per a year. A common trend is for salary increases to occur so a professional making less than $30,000 can reasonably expect to be earning $40,000 or more within a few years.
